There was a royal garden called as Xingguo Temple
which was constructed within Liao Dynasty (916-1125) and Jin Dynasty (1115-1234). This temple with total area of over 22 acres was located at the western part of Tiananmen Square. Throughout the history, the temple had encountered a number of rename before it was named as Zhongshan Park finally.
In Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), it was renamed to Wanshouxingguo Temple and later it had been renovated to be Shejitan (Altar of Earth and Harvests or Altar of Land and Grain in some translations) when the emperor of Ming Dysnaty, the Zhu Di (1360-1424) constructed the palace in Beijing. It was given the name of Shejitan as it served as the place where Ming and Qing Dynasty to offer sacrifices to God of Land and God of Agriculture. In commemoration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan in mandarin), this park was renamed as Zhongshan Park in 1928. more...
- Yuyuantan Park

Yuyuantan Park has been a famous recreational destination which located at the northwestern part of Beijing city ever since Jin Dynasty (1115-1234). Since those early ages, the surrounding of Yuyuantan Park had already fulfilled the requirements of people who pursued peacefulness during that period of time. It also served as a famous spots for fishing for a long time. Some modifications had been made during Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Water from Xiangshan (Fragrant Hill) was brought in for the purpose of perfecting the entire late/lake system of Yuyuantan Park. Beijing Badachu Park is located at the western part of Taihang Mountain which in between of three hills, the Cuiwei Hill, Pingpo Hill and Lushi Hill. There are locals named the western hill as Hutou Hill (Tiger Head Hill), eastern hill as Qinglong Hill (Green Dragon Hill) and the North Hill as Cuiwei Hill. The Badachu Park has covered an area of 332 hectares and the highest peak reaching 464.8 meters above sea level. The park is seated in such a way that surrounded by that three hills which looks as if a huge old-styled wooden arm chair. Taoranting Park or Taoran Pavilion Park is located at the South Second Ring Road of Beijing. The overall area of this park covers 56.56 hectares including 17 hectares of water surface. Taoranting Park was built in 1952 and became the first modern architectural park after the foundation of People’s Republic of China. Before the setting up of park, this piece of land was already one of the famous spots in ancient Beijing. The popular Taoran Pavilion and the Cibei Nunnery (some translated as Mercy Nunnery) are located in this park. - Temple of Earth

Temple of Earth, an ancient imperial garden which served as the destination for sacrifices offering occasions was located just at northern side of the Lama Temple. Besides that, it is also the oldest place which served for sacrifices offering to the God of Earth (sometimes translated as the God of Agriculture) throughout the history of China. Within 1531 to 1911, there were as much as 15 emperors of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) who held the ceremonies of worshipping God of Earth continuously for about 381 years.
Before Ming Dynasty, the ceremony of worshipping God of Heaven and God of Earth were carried out at the Temple of Heaven. This practice had come to the end in year 1530 when a new rule that sacrifices offering to be done at four different places which located at the four compass directions with the Forbidden City as the geographical center for four significant God which was set by the emperor. As a result of that new rule, construction for the Temple of Earth had begun. Temple of Earth was built as the north of the Forbidden City while Temple of Heaven is located at the south of Forbidden City.
